Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Proteinix ("we", "our", "the app") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the Proteinix mobile application.

1. Who we are

Proteinix is an AI-powered fitness and nutrition tracking app developed by Jagadish, an independent developer based in India.

2. Information we collect

Account information

• Email address, and name if you sign up with email or Google Sign-In
• Phone number, if you sign up or verify using phone/OTP
• Authentication is handled by our backend provider (Supabase); we do not store your password in plain text

Profile and health information you provide

• Age, gender, height, weight, fitness goal, and activity level
• Daily nutrition and fitness goals (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, water, steps, sleep)
• Optional profile photo

Activity you log in the app

• Meals you log (food name, quantity, calories, and macronutrients), including how each entry was logged (manual, photo scan, text, or voice)
• Daily summaries: calories consumed/burned, water intake, steps, sleep duration and quality, weight over time
• Chat messages you send to the AI Coach, and the AI's replies

Photos (food scanning)

When you use the camera to scan a meal, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI (via our secure backend) to identify the food and estimate its nutritional content. We do not permanently store the raw photo on our servers beyond what's needed to complete the scan and, if you choose to save the result, the nutrition data derived from it — not the original image.

Voice input (voice meal logging)

When you use voice logging, your device's microphone captures audio, which is converted to text using your device's speech recognition. Only the resulting text (e.g. "two rotis and a bowl of dal") is sent to our AI for nutrition analysis — the audio recording itself is not uploaded to our servers.

Health & fitness data from your device

With your permission, we read step count and sleep data from Android Health Connect to populate your daily activity and sleep summaries. This is read-only — we do not write data back to Health Connect on your behalf beyond what you log in-app.

Subscription and purchase information

If you subscribe to Proteinix Premium, your purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We (via RevenueCat, our subscription management provider) receive your subscription status and entitlement — not your payment card details, which Google handles directly.

Diagnostic information

The app may keep a local, on-device log of recent errors to help us troubleshoot issues you report. This diagnostic log stays on your device unless you choose to share it with us for support purposes.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Calculate your personalized nutrition and fitness goals
• Identify food from photos or descriptions and estimate calories/macros using AI
• Power the AI Coach's personalized advice, based on your logged data
• Track your progress over time (weight, nutrition, sleep, steps)
• Send reminder notifications you've enabled (water, meals, sleep)
• Manage your subscription and restore purchases across devices
• Maintain and improve the app's reliability

4. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to provide the app's features:

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share your data for advertising purposes.

Your data is stored on servers located in Mumbai, India (ap-south-1).

5. Data security

• All data in transit between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS)
• Your data is isolated at the database level so only you can access your own records (row-level security)
• API keys used for AI processing are never stored in the app itself — they're kept only on our secured backend
• We restrict and monitor access to sensitive operations like account deletion

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.

6. Your rights and choices

• Access & correct: You can view and edit your profile, goals, and logged data directly in the app at any time.
• Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, meal logs, daily summaries, weight history, AI Coach chat history, and photos from our systems. This action cannot be undone.
• Notifications: You can enable or disable reminder notifications in the app's settings.
• Data export/portability requests: Contact us at jagadishwarreddy.n@gmail.com if you'd like a copy of your data.

7. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately as described above. If you stop using the app without deleting your account, your data remains stored until you delete it or request deletion.

8. Children's privacy

Proteinix is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes, we'll notify you through the app.
